NFL Week 1 Picks

NFL Week 1 Picks

Welcome to the NFL Week 1 Picks from BParlay.com.  It’s officially the best time of the year for sports betting because the NFL season has arrived. The week one slate officially begins Thursday, September 9th, when the defending Super Bowl, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, will host the Dallas Cowboys.

There is plenty of excellent betting value throughout the week one schedule. Here are the best bets for each game, courtesy of Bparlay.com.

Thursday, September 9th – NFL Week 1 Picks

Dallas Cowboys at Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 8:20 p.m. ET

Tom Brady’s leadership was evident during Tampa Bay’s playoff run in 2020. The Buccaneers will return all 22 starters on offense and defense this season. This has not happened in the NFL since 1977.

The offense and defense are poised for a big night if they can shut down Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb. I like the Buccaneers to cover -7.5 at home.

Buccaneers -7.5 (-108)

Sunday, September 12th

Los Angeles Chargers at Washington Football Team, 1 p.m. ET

The Washington Football Team will have one of the best defenses in the NFL this season, thanks to a ruthless front seven. Nevertheless, they will have to defend the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year in Justin Herbert.

Herbert will have Keenan Allen and Mike Williams to work with this season, along with a healthy Austin Ekeler running the football. Washington does not have the offense to prevail, with Ryan Fitzpatrick leading the charge.

Chargers -1 (-110)

Jacksonville Jaguars at Houston Texans, 1 p.m. ET

Neither team in this matchup is in good shape. I think Trevor Lawrence will have some success if he can stay upright. Tyrod Taylor will start at quarterback for Houston, but he is not Deshaun Watson.

The Watson debacle is going to open the door for the Jaguars to cover as favorites.

Jaguars -3 (+100)

San Francisco 49ers at Detroit Lions, 1 p.m. ET

The 49ers are clearly the favorite to win this contest. Jared Goff will be making his debut in Detroit, but the Lions are beginning a massive rebuild. Detroit’s defense in 2021 was the worst in football. The 49ers are one of our recommended NFL Week 1 Picks of 2021. We have a useful NFL Betting Guide for our readers to learn more about NFL sports bets.

This should allow the 49ers to put up points on Sunday. It does not matter if Jimmy Garoppolo or Trey Lance is starting because San Francisco should still cover.

49ers -7.5 (-110)

New York Jets at Carolina Panthers, 1 p.m. ET

Sam Darnold will begin his career as a Panther against his former team. Darnold has numerous weapons to work with, including Christian McCaffrey, D.J. Moore, and Robby Anderson.

The Jets are beat up on defense, making Carolina a clear favorite to cover the spread.

Panthers -5 (-110)

Seattle Seahawks at Indianapolis Colts, 1 p.m. ET

The under is the bet that you want to focus on in the Seahawks vs. Colts game. Jacob Eason or Sam Elhinger will be making the start on Sunday, which should cause the Colts to take a conservative approach.

The Seahawks’ defense will be improved, and they should slow the pace on offense in the second half when they have the lead.

NFL Betting Pick Icon
Under 48.5 Points (-110)

Minnesota Vikings at Cincinnati Bengals, 1 p.m. ET

Can the Bengals offensive line protect Joe Burrow? Based on what we saw last season, they will have a hard time accomplishing this goal. Jonah Williams will play a huge role at left tackle, but the Vikings should still have success.

Minnesota has a top ten offense and a stronger defense than last season. It’s hard not to take them to cover.

Vikings -3.5 (-104)

Pittsburgh Steelers at Buffalo Bills, 1 p.m. ET

The Bills are no longer pretenders in the AFC. This team is a favorite to lead the conference in the Super Bowl this season. Josh Allen has proved he is a franchise quarterback, and his 2020 dominance should carry into the opener.

The Steelers have a weapon in Najee Harris out of Alabama, but it’s hard to bet Pittsburgh to win or cover. Buffalo rolls to victory at home.

NFL Betting Pick Icon
Bills -6.5 (-110)

Arizona Cardinals at Tennessee Titans, 1 p.m. ET

The Titans are favored in this matchup, but picking Tennessee is not the best bet in the opener. The Cardinals will likely lose this game, but they are defined by explosive play behind Kyler Murray.

The Titans ranked sixth, and the Cardinals were ninth in offense last season. With the addition of Julio Jones in Tennessee, I see this game going way over the total.

NFL Betting Pick Icon
Over 52 Points (-110)

Philadelphia Eagles at Atlanta Falcons, 1 p.m. ET

The Eagles and Falcons are two middling teams, which should make for an exciting matchup. Both teams will have new head coaches. Matt Ryan and Jalen Hurts will headline the matchup, but Philadelphia looked ugly in the preseason.

It’s tempting to bet the Eagles at +3.5, but the Falcons at -3.5 has more value and a better chance of hitting when this game is examined. Check out the BParlay.com NFL Week 1 Picks recommendation below.

Falcons -3.5 (-106)

Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots, 4:25 p.m. ET

The Mac Jones era will begin against the Dolphins in the season opener. Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson will likely receive the bulk of the workload. If the Patriots can run the football efficiently, I like them to win.

Locking up the Patriots at -2.5 is a steal considering this game could be decided by a field goal. Jones has shown the ability to take care of the football. This is critical for winning games.

Patriots -2.5 (-110)

Denver Broncos at New York Giants, 4:25 p.m. ET

The Giants’ offensive line cannot protect Daniel Jones, and until this is figured out, I will not be betting on the Giants. This game will stay under, and you should lock up this wager because the other lines are a crapshoot.

The Giants’ secondary with Adoree Jackson will be strong. When this is combined with New York’s lackluster protection, under 42.5 is a great bet.

Under 42.5 Points (-110)

Cleveland Browns at Kansas City Chiefs, 4:25 p.m. ET

The Browns are no longer the Browns. Cleveland is poised for a successful season, but it will not be an easy start in Kansas City against Patrick Mahomes. Baker Mayfield and the Dawg Pound will be looking for revenge in this matchup from the AFC Divisional Round.

I do not think the Browns will win, but they have a tremendous offense that can score points. The same goes for the Chiefs with Mahomes. The gunslinger proved he can make plays without an offensive line in the Super Bowl.

NFL Betting Pick Icon
Over 52.5 Points (-113)

Green Bay Packers at New Orleans Saints, 4:25 p.m. ET

Aaron Rodgers is back for Green Bay, and he still is playing at an MVP caliber level. The Saints are outmatched in this matchup because they do not have a quarterback.

Taysom Hill was valuable in tight end sets, but he may be taking most of the reps under center. The quad could also suit up Jameis Winston, but we all know how that will end.

NFL Betting Pick Icon
Packers -4.5 (-110)

Chicago Bears at Los Angeles Rams, 8:20 p.m. ET

Matt Stafford is immersed in a winning culture for the first time in his career, and I think this will excite the quarterback. The Rams on the money line has no value, and the spread is risky. Why not take a look at the official game schedule on the NFL website for the latest news.

However, Los Angeles should cover if they can win the third-down battle. The Bears are masters of getting off the field, but I think Stafford will give them some trouble.

Rams -7 (-110)

Monday, September 13th

Baltimore Ravens at Las Vegas Raiders, 8:15 p.m. ET

The Raiders do not have the defensive talent to tame Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. Las Vegas will score points, but the defense will be the Achilles heel for the franchise in 2021.

You could go with the over, but the Ravens to cover at -4.5 is a good play for the final game of week one/
