SugarHouse Sportsbook Review

SugarHouse may not be a name that too many players worldwide are familiar with. In the New Jersey area, though, most people at least have heard of the name. That’s because the SugarHouse has been operating a land-based casino in nearby Philadelphia since 2010.

SugarHouse Sportsbook Info

In addition, SugarHouse began offering online casino gambling in New Jersey in 2016. This gave SugarHouse a slight advantage over some of its competitors when sports betting was legalized in New Jersey, as the site already had a name brand with players, plus an online presence already set up.

All they had to do was add sports betting options, and boy, did they do it fast. SugarHouse has been very aggressive in the sports betting market, and they continue to attract new players because of it. SugarHouse was the second online sportsbook to open in New Jersey, after only DraftKings.

Let’s take a more detailed look at the SugarHouse Sportsbook and whether it might be a good option for you.

SugarHouse Sportsbook Bonuses

One of the best parts about the SugarHouse Sportsbook is it offers a lot of bonuses and promotions. When you go to their website, you’re instantly shown their current featured promotion.

Right now, new players can get a 100% first deposit match bonus up to $250. When you are creating your account for the first time, all you have to do is use the code “250MATCH” to take advantage. There is a 1X wagering requirement that comes with this deposit match, but that’s pretty good.

You must make a deposit of at least $10 in order to qualify for the match, which will be credit into your bonus account within 48 hours of making the deposit.

SugarHouse also runs a lot of ongoing promotions that change often, which can all be found under the “Promotions” tab at the top of the page. One such bonus is the NJ Million Dollar Streak contest, where the site is giving away $1 million in prizes for your weekly spread bets.

SugarHouse also offers a loyalty program they call iRush Rewards, where you earn points for making wagers that can then be cashed in for prizes, merchandise, and bets.

What SugarHouse Does Well

SugarHouse is a well-designed site that is easy on the eyes and easy to navigate on both desktop and mobile app versions. In fact, this is one of the best features of the SugarHouse Sportsbook.

Some online sportsbooks choose flashy colors or make navigation difficult, but not SugarHouse. They use a simple white background with blue to highlight available wagers and toolbars. It’s easy to find any wager you might desire through either the “Live Right Now” section on the main page, or the browse-by-sport toolbar to the left.

Another area where SugarHouse separates itself from the competition is the number and variety of wagers offered. The site quite possibly offers the most betting options of any online sportsbook on the market.

This doesn’t just go for the sports it offers wagers on, but the types of wagers as well. The site does a great job of offering alternate lines, props and futures bets, as well as a large number of Live Betting options. They even highlight the Live Betting options right on the main page, which is an outstanding way of enticing players to place a wager with relatively instant results.

SugarHouse offers a good selection of deposit and withdrawal options as well, which should make players happy. Deposit options include:

  • Credit/debit card
  • Online banking
  • SugarHouse Play+ card
  • PayPal
  • Pay with Cash
  • Cash @ cage at the Golden Nugget Casino in Atlantic City
  • Wire transfer

They also offer six options for withdrawals, which are more than a lot of their competitors. These include:

  • Online banking
  • SugarHouse Play+
  • PayPal
  • ACH/eCheck
  • Cash & cage at the Golden Nugget
  • Check by mail

SugarHouse also offers good customer support via phone (from 9:30 a.m. to 2 a.m.) as well as a 24/7 Live Chat feature. They also offer email support, but you have to fill out a form on their site to be contacted this way.

What SugarHouse Doesn’t Do Well

When SugarHouse rolled out in 2018, one of the biggest complaints from players was that they charged high vigs, especially in football. Most of their vigs started at 15 cents in the NFL, which is 5 cents higher than the traditional 10-cent vig.

The site promised it would work on offering more competitive pricing for this season, though, and for the most part, it looks like they have lived up to that promise. One thing to keep in mind is that the sportsbooks is Kambi backs SugarHouse, which means the lines and prices they offer are the same as other Kambi-backed sportsbooks such as 888sport and DraftKings.

Another complaint of some players is that, while the interface is easy to use, it can look and feel rather amateurish and cheeky. It can look a little childish at times with the graphics and icons they use. This might not seem like a big deal, as long as it doesn’t get in the way of what players care about – placing bets.

SugarHouse also really rams down your throat all the promotions they’re running. This can sometimes get in the way of placing a bet or navigating the site. In this vein, they also do a lot of promotion and cross-over between their sportsbook and online casino, which can be a little annoying for those sportsbook players who aren’t interested in the online casino.

Sugarhouse Sportsbook Conclusion

SugarHouse may not be as familiar to people as some of the other sportsbooks on the market nationwide, but they offer one of the best all-around online sportsbooks in New Jersey. Between the solid welcome bonus and ongoing promotions, the clean design and the plethora of wagers offered and deposit/withdrawal methods, SugarHouse really does stand out from the competition.

If you’re looking for an online sportsbook in New Jersey or Pennsylvania, SugarHouse should definitely be in the running.
