Like many other businesses revolving around sports, DraftKings is gearing up for The Big Game that will be played Sunday February 3, between New England and Los Angeles.
To generate even more excitement for the game, DraftKings has partnered with FantasyPros to offer a contest called Squares that will award more than $53,000 in prizes. The best part about the contest is that it is free to enter.
What is the DraftKings Squares contest?
The DraftKings Squares contest is similar to a lot of pools that are run for the Super Bowl by people in an office or among friends. You start by selecting a blank square on a game board. When the Super Bowl game begins, those squares will be assigned numbers one through nine. At the end of each quarter of the game, if your numbers match up to the final digit both team’s score at that point, you will win a prize.
How to Sign Up for the DraftKings Squares contest
To sign up for the DraftKings Squares contest, simply go to the contest page. You can register for a DraftKings account right here. When you get to the page, you will see a sign-up page that describes how to play the game. To enter, simply click the yellow “Play Now” button at the bottom of the screen.
Once you click Play Now, you will be taken to a new screen with a bunch of boxes. Along the top, it says New England Patriots. Along the left side, it says Los Angeles Rams.
To continue the sign-up process, simply click any of these random squares, and then click the yellow “Submit Pick” button at the bottom of the screen.
Once you click Submit Pick, a pop-up screen will appear asking you to either sign up for a DraftKings account or log in if you already have an account. Simply choose whether you have an account or need to sign up for a new one, and follow the instructions on the screen.
Once you have either signed up for a new DraftKings account or signed into your already existing account, the site will confirm that you have successfully entered by showing another pop-up box that confirms your entry.
How Are Winners Chosen in the DraftKings Squares contest?
At the point you enter the contest, you will not know what your numbers are for the contest. When the big game begins, the site will randomly generate numbers for each column and each row on this board, from numbers zero through nine. To figure out your numbers, simply take the number assigned to the Los Angeles Rams for your box’s row and the number assigned to the New England Patriots for your box’s column.
At the end of each quarter of the game, the winners of the contest will be determined by taking the last digital of each team’s score in the game. For example, if the score at the end of the first quarter is the New England Patriots 13, the Los Angeles Rams 7, then the winning numbers for the first quarter would be New England 3, Los Angeles 7. If your box has those two numbers, you’ll win a prize for that quarter.
The numbers your box is assigned will be your numbers for the entire game. Prizes will be given at the end of each quarter of the game, and there are currently $53,000 in total prizes available. Plus, for every 100,000 entries, DraftKings will add more cash bonus prizes.
Unlike the traditional squares contest pools you may have played at your office or at a party, multiple contestants will end up having the same square as you in the DraftKings Squares contest. So if your numbers win, you’ll win a portion of the prize for each quarter.
