Welcome to the BParlay.com Rookie’s Guide to NFL.

The National Football League is the most popular sport in the United States, and it also has a massive following around the world. Not only is the league a popular sport to watch, but it is also the most popular betting market.

The NFL season stretches from August to February, and it absolutely dominates the action at the sportsbooks. Even when the league is not in season, it continues to find ways to dominate the headlines and steal the spotlight from other sports.

NFL parlay betting has emerged as one of the most popular betting options, and BParlay has all of your NFL parlay picks. Here is a quick summary of the most popular sport in the United States, and a guide of how BParlay can help you win some money on NFL betting.

Rookie’s Guide to NFL History

The National Football League was founded in 1920, but it didn’t officially use this name until the 1922 season. There were just ten teams in the league when it first began, but there has been a ton of growth over the last 100 years.

The Chicago Bears and the Arizona Cardinals are the only two franchises that still exist from the beginning of the league. The Green Bay Packers formed just one year after the league began play.

Professional football became a huge hit in the United States thanks to the NFL, but it also helped the American Football League get off the ground as well. These two leagues competed until the organizations decided to merge in 1970.

As of 2021, there are 32 teams in the National Football League, but that number could be expanding in the coming years. The league has started to play games in London every year, and there is a potential to move a team there permanently.

The league was officially finalized in August 1920 at a business in Canton, Ohio. The NFL has kept its roots in Canton, and that is the site of the NFL Hall of Fame that hosts a massive ceremony every year.

Super Bowl

The first thing that most people think about when they hear the words, “National Football League,” is the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl is the biggest sporting event in the United States each year, and it is also one of the biggest in the world.

For sports fans, the Super Bowl is a showdown between the two best football teams in the world, and the game has produced many memorable moments throughout the years. For people that aren’t fans of sports, the Super Bowl usually means throwing or attending a massive party and watching commercials.

Super Bowl LVI will be played on Sunday, February 13, and it will take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif. Super Bowl LV was played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. In that game, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 31-9.

The Packers beat the Chiefs 35-10 in the first Super Bowl ever played in 1967. The winning team in the Super Bowl receives the Lombardi Trophy, named after the legendary Packers coach.

Halftime Show

The Super Bowl is also well known for having the most elaborate and exciting halftime shows in sports. According to some people, the halftime show is bigger than the game. The NFL has been able to attract some of the biggest entertainment stars to perform, such as Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Prince, Bruce Springsteen, and many more.

Pepsi has been the Super Bowl halftime show sponsor for many years, and the long show does delay the start of the second half. The Super Bowl halftime show also comes into play with sports betting as well.

Beginners Guide – NFL Teams

The National Football League comprises of 32 teams, with 16 teams being placed in each of the two conferences. Within each conference, there are four divisions made up of four teams each.

Divisions are broke up geographically, but expansion teams have created some strange placements in NFL divisions. Realignment has taken place several times throughout NFL history and will likely occur again if new teams are added to the league.

The winner of each division in the NFL advances to the playoffs each season.

American Football Conference

The American Football Conference was created in 1970 when the merger took place between the National Football League and the American Football League. All 10 former AFL teams were placed in this conference along with three NFL teams.

Today, the AFC is made up of 16 teams, with four divisions in the conference. The AFL began play during the 1960 season, and the AFC honors the legacy and tradition of this former league.

CBS has traditionally been the broadcast partner of the AFC, but these conference games can now be seen on FOX as well. The Kansas City Chiefs are the two-time defending champions of the AFC.

Season Schedule

The 2021 NFL season will look much different than it ever has in the past.  As the league owners voted to add a 17th game to the regular season schedule. This will create an extra week to the regular season, but it will also take away a preseason game.

NFL teams had been playing four preseason games and 16 regular season games each season. Six teams made the NFL Playoffs up until 2021, when the league expanded to seven playoff teams from each conference.

NFL training camps begin in July, with the preseason games starting in August. The league will be adjusting its schedule during the 2021 season, and it will take some time to adapt.

Every season, each team plays two games apiece against divisional opponents. The NFL has a formula in place for filling out the rest of the schedule, and the league created a new procedure to select the 17th game.

The NFL Playoffs consist of four rounds, with the top overall seed in each conference earning a first-round bye. The conference championship game will be played on the final weekend of January, and there will be a two-week break until the Super Bowl. Usually, the NFL Pro Bowl is played in Hawaii in the week between the Conference Championships and the Super Bowl.

With the addition of a 17th regular season game for each team.  The Super Bowl has been moved back to the second weekend in February. The Pro Bowl is scheduled to take place on the first Sunday in February each year. We have pruduced this Rookie’s Guide to NFL to help people new to the sport understand the fundamentals.
