Los Angeles come into New England for their second straight east coast road game which starts at 10AM. This would be a tough ask for this team considering it is the New England Patriots had this team not beat Cleveland, Buffalo and Baltimore at 1PM Easter earlier this year. Say what you want about the opponents, we all know the Buffalo have a great fan base and Baltimore has an elite defense.
Los Angeles also played in London earlier this year, a game that kicked off at 7AM on the west coast. The Chargers won road games in Seattle, Pittsburgh and Kansas City, arguably three of the toughest places to play in the league. It is almost as if these Los Angeles embrace the idea of this game being in this time spot with all of the travel involved.
Heck, they have a better record on the road than at home and barely have a home field as it is. This is a team that finds ways.
Can they find ways against Tom Brady, and Bill Belichick. This obviously will be a test. However, New England are not quite themselves. Josh Gordon is gone and Rob Gronkowski has been a blocking tight end in recent weeks. Julian Edelman seems to drop a pass every week, and they have struggled to figure out their running backs ever since Rex Burkhead came into the mix.
New England had two weeks to get their offense on track against Buffalo and their rivals in New York before a bye week to really put it all together. Can they come up with a plan in that time capable of winning? Yes.
However, Los Angeles have been the better team on paper. They have a four man pass rush led by Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa followed by a new seven defensive back look that can shut down the run and pass. They have a solid run game and a variety of pass catchers, including the addition of Hunter Henry. If it is ever going to happen for the Los Angeles, this is it.
