The MLB season is scheduled to begin on Thursday, and it feels unreal. Between the lockout and the quick Spring Training, it’s amazing the season is starting just one week late. Since baseball is such a long season, it’s perfect for future wagers.
Value on these wagers will start to diminish in these markets if you do not act soon! Let’s get into some of my favorite plays for the 2022 season.
Los Angeles Dodgers o98.5 Wins
The Los Angeles Dodgers are the best team in baseball, and it’s not even close. They just traded AJ Pollock but picked up Craig Kimbrel in the process.
Without Pollock, the lineup is still the most potent in the league. There are a few question marks like former MVP Cody Bellinger, but I expect this team to mash in 2022.
The rotation is stacked behind Walker Buehler, Clayton Kershaw, and potentially Trevor Bauer if he returns.
New York Mets u88.5 Wins
The New York Mets always find a way to blow games, and I think this will happen again in 2022. The team won 77 games last season, and they had decent expectations heading into the year. The biggest problem with the Mets is Jacob deGrom’s injury status.
The pitcher is already hurt, and injuries have been a recurring problem for him over the years. He had a WAR of 5.0 in 12 starts last season, but this team is dramatically worse if he does not play.
Houston Astros u92.5 Wins
The Houston Astros got worse this offseason. Say what you want about Carlos Correa, but he was a difference-maker when he stayed healthy. His loss will be detrimental, and I think it will show throughout the year.
Additionally, the pitching staff is questionable. As great as Justin Verlander has been over the years, he was of the oldest pitchers to attempt a comeback following Tommy John. I am not saying it is not going to work, but I have my doubts that this is a 93-win club.
The Rangers, Mariners, and Angels are all going to give Houston trouble at some point this MLB season.
Baltimore Orioles u61.5 Wins
The Orioles only won 52 games during the 2021 MLB season, and their total is listed at 61.5. This team is better heading into the year because their future stars like Ryan Mountcastle and Cedric Mullins have more experience. However, the American League East got a lot better this offseason. This is the best division in baseball because there are four teams that could win the title. The victor will be the team that hammers the Orioles the hardest, so Baltimore will not have many teams play down to them within the division.
Chicago White Sox u91.5 Wins
Chicago played nobody within their division last MLB season, and they only won 93 games. Any team that wins 93 contests is solid, but the strength of the AL Central was atrocious in 2021. Additionally, Chicago matched up with the NL Central for interleague games, which was a horrendous division.
The White Sox have a star-studded roster, but I think the addition of AJ Pollock hurts the bullpen. Craig Kimbrel was a stud in the eighth or ninth inning, and Joe Kelly will start the year on the IL. The division has gotten better, so I predict them settling around 90 wins. Wander Franco AL MVP +2200
Wander Franco is one of the best young players in the game. For the value, there is no better bet for the AL MVP.
Franco finished third in the AL Rookie of the Year, slashing .288/.347/.463 with seven homers and 39 RBI. He did this in 70 games as a 20-year-old.
The best part about Franco was how he just got better every week of the season. I see this happening once again, and for the price, if it does, your bet could be very lucrative.
