For the first time in a long time, the AFC East was not won by the New England Patriots in 2020. That honor went to the Buffalo Bills, who had a strong 13-3 season that culminated with a trip to the AFC Championship Game.

Buffalo Bills
The Bills and Josh Allen had a coming-out party in 2020. Allen led a prolific offense to a 13-3 record and a berth in the AFC Championship Game.
The addition of Stefon Diggs before last season was the jolt Allen needed. Diggs led the NFL in receiving, and the Bills seem poised to keep up where they left off.
Buffalo will need more from their defense in 2021, though they did have a top-ten pass-rushing unit.
Allen has all the makings of a true star in the NFL, and I’d bet on 2020 as just the beginning of a long and successful run for Bills fans.
Buffalo is the favorite to win the AFC East again, at -160.
Verdict: Bet OVER 11 total wins for the Bills
Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins went 10-6 in 2020, just missing out on the AFC playoffs. With multiple first-round picks, Miami is hoping they have the core to get over the hump and back into playoff contention.
That bet hinges on Tua Tagovailoa. The rookie passer had an up-and-down season, often getting switched in and out with Ryan Fitzpatrick.
That inconsistency took its toll in Year 1, but Fitzpatrick is gone now. One could argue there’s no quarterback with more to prove than Tua in Year 2.
Aiding his cause is plenty of offensive weapons. At receiver, Miami added Will Fuller and Jaylen Waddle to accompany Davante Parker. Two-speed threats with a big possession guy, plus tight end Mike Gesicki and running back Myles Gaskin. It’s a solid group.
I believe in Tua’s ability, don’t let one rocky rookie season derail your impression of him.
Miami’s defense was fine last season, but they, too, need to take a leap for Miami to post ten wins again.
The Dolphins are tied with the Patriots at +300 to win the division.

New England Patriots
It was a transition year for the New England Patriots in 2020, as they said goodbye to Tom Brady and moved into a new era.

Cam Newton is back in 2021, but the Patriots also added Alabama quarterback Mac Jones in the first round of the NFL Draft.
Even more notably, New England tossed out a ton of money in free agency to help the offense. The team signed tight ends Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry, and receiver Nelson Agholor, to name a few.
Don’t forget; this 2020 defense was not what we’re accustomed to from a Bill Bellichick-led team. They were 19th in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus.
With so much uncertainty at the quarterback position, it may be another losing season for New England – something they haven’t seen in a long time.

New York Jets
The Jets 2-14 season netted them the second pick in the draft and the rights to draft BYU quarterback Zach Wilson.
While Wilson looks like he could be an exciting prospect at the most position in football, this team had more problems than who was throwing the football.
No offense was worse than the New York Jets in 2020, and their defense was also a bottom-ten unit. They added Corey Davis to the receiving room, but it doesn’t feel like enough has been done to spark this team out of the basement.

The Jets have the worst odds to win the AFC East, at +1600.
It seems like another tough season is on tap for New York.
