The BParlay team have compiled some 2021 MLB Award Bets and Predictions that are well worth reviewing.
Parlays do not just apply to traditional wagers throughout the season. If you place the correct prop parlay on a future bet, you will give yourself a massive payday.
In MLB, we are approaching the halfway point in the 2021 season. The end-of-season awards are by no means a lock at this point. Although, we have a decent understanding of who the top prospects are for the major awards like the MVP and Cy Young.
If you parlay these two awards and the bet hits, a small risk will give you a superior payout. Here are the updated betting odds for the MVP and Cy Young awards throughout the American and National League.
American League MVP
The American League MVP frontrunners have been established at this point in the season. However, the value on these bets is not great because two players have risen to the occasion heading into the All-Star break.
Nevertheless, there is no guarantee that dominance will continue when play resumes. The two leaders for the AL MVP are Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Shohei Ohtani. Guerrero is the frontrunner at +100, and Ohtani is +110 to claim the award.
It’s currently Guerrero’s award to lose because of his dominance at the plate. The player is slashing .340/.664/.1.106 with 23 homers. He leads the league in multiple categories, including hits, homers, RBI, OBP, slugging, OPS, OPS+, and total bases. Learn more about the Bparlay MLB Picks and Parlays with our handy MLB resources.
This may lead you to wonder how the race is so tight if Guerrero is playing this well? Shohei Ohtani is second because he is doing something we have not seen since Babe Ruth or Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
He is pitching and hitting at a high level on a nightly basis. Ohtani is tied with Guerrero for home runs with 23, and he has an OBP of .351. On the bump, he is 3-1 with a 2.58 ERA. The dual-threat has recorded 82 strikeouts in 59.1 innings of work. These types of facts are very useful when researching for the MLB Award Bets and Predictions.
Other players in the AL MVP conversation are Xander Bogaerts (+2500), Mike Trout (+4000), and Aaron Judge (+500).
National League MVP
The National League MVP is currently a three-way race between Jacob deGrom, Fernando Tatis Jr., and Ronald Acuna Jr. It’s remarkable that deGrom is in the MVP conversation as a pitcher, but he has been unhittable in 2021.
Patrick Wisdom compared facing deGrom to a test that you know you are going to fail. The pitcher is +125 to win the award because of his 0.50 ERA and 117 strikeouts. If deGrom maintains this pace, he will win the NL MVP.
Nevertheless, injuries have caused some adversity for deGrom in 2021, so keep this in mind when betting. Tatis and Acuna are +175 and +380 to win NL MVP.
Tatis, like deGrom, has suffered from some injuries in 2021. However, he has been exhilarating when in the lineup. Tatis is leading the league in home runs (22), stolen bases (15), slugging (.657), OPS (1.022), and OPS+ (186).
He has only competed in 75% of the Padres’ games in 2021. Acuna is Tatis’ main competition for the award. The Atlanta Brave is leading the league in runs (58) and tied with Tatis for stolen bases (15).
The outfielder would need to improve his stats, and deGrom and Tatis would need to play worse in the second half for Acuna to win NL MVP.
News concerning the MLB Award Bets and Predictions
American League Cy Young
The Cy Young odds in the AL and NL are heavily skewed towards one pitcher in each league. However, anything can happen in the second half of the season with the latest foreign substance rules.
Gerrit Cole is -170 to win AL Cy Young. He is followed by Carlos Rodon (+300) and Lance Lynn (+650) of the Chicago White Sox.
Cole has defined consistency this season. He is not leading the league in any category, but he has been solid for the New York Yankees. The pitcher is 8-3 with a 2.33 ERA. He has fanned 123 batters in 96.2 innings.
Cole was believed to be using foreign substances, which are no longer allowed and enforced by umpires. This may hurt his chances to win the Cy Young. Why not take a look at some of the Official MLB Statistics for even more knowledge.
National League Cy Young
The National League Cy Young belongs to Jacob deGrom. deGrom will easily win the award, even if he has a worse second half of the season. The only thing deGrom needs to do for the remainder of the year remains healthy.
Injuries are a concern with deGrom, but he has not suffered any significant issues in 2021. However, many minor problems have caused him to leave MLB games early.
deGrom is -450 to claim the NL Cy Young. He is followed by a pair of Milwaukee Brewers’ pitchers Brandon Woodruff and Corbin Burnes. Woodruff is +800, and Burnes is +1500.
A risk bet on one of these two pitchers could have value because of deGrom being injury prone. Yet, if he stays healthy, you are giving away money.
