nj online live dealerWhat is a Live Dealer in NJ?

A Live Dealer means a live human being that is the designated dealer for a casino game. They will be broadcast live in real time using a deck or shoe of cards or a physical roulette wheel that the dealer will spin the ball on. Which Live Dealer games are available in online casinos in NJ?

There are three main games that are currently being offered with live dealers, however more games will be added as the popularity continues to grow. They are Live Blackjack or 21, Live Roulette and Live Baccarat.

New Jersey Online Casino Live Dealer Blackjack

Blackjack has always been a very popular casino game. This could be due to the very small house edge one could take advantage of from playing perfect strategy. The same can be said from playing in the live dealer black jack games on the online New Jersey Casinos. The house edge for playing perfect strategy is around 1% or less. There are however some differences between the live dealer black jack and traditional online blackjack.

Basic rules of Blackjack

In the game of black jack you are trying to beat the dealer. You do this by getting your cards to add up as closely as possible to the number 21 without going over 21. If you go over 21 your hand will bust and you will lose your bet. You will be dealt 2 face up cards and the dealer will be dealt 1 card face up and 1 card face down. You may request for more cards, stand or stay on your cards, double down and surrender.

All face cards which are the Jack through King are considered 10 with the Ace acting as an 11 or a 1. The best hand to get dealt in black jack is a 10 and an Ace. This is called a blackjack and you instantly get 3 to 2 on your bet as long as the dealer does not also have blackjack as well.

Double down is exactly what it sounds like, you are doubling your initial bet in exchange for 1 more card.

Splitting is the act of getting 2 cards of the same value and splitting them into 2 separate hands. You may then proceed to play them as you normally would and can still choose to double down if you wish to do so.

In some games of blackjack they will allow you to surrender. Surrendering means forfeiting half of your bet early and having the other half return back to you. This is commonly done when holding a 16 and the dealer holds a 10.

Differences Between Traditional Online Blackjack in New Jersey and Live dealer Blackjack

To cover the costs of hosting Live Dealer blackjack the house rules will be slightly different than the traditional online blackjack rules that are usually offered. In most New Jersey Online Casinos offering digital blackjack they will shuffle and deal the cards every hand at random. In Live dealer blackjack the dealer will be playing with what’s a called a shoe, containing 8 decks. They will reshuffle all the cards at the 4 deck mark to prevent players from gaining an edge from card counting.

Splitting and doubling down will be proceed as normal, however you will not be allowed to split a second or third time on any hands. Some online casinos in New Jersey offering blackjack will allow you to surrender, no live dealer games allow any type of surrendering at any point.

New Jersey Online Casino Live Dealer Blackjack Side Bets

Side bets are an additional bet to your original wager. A few different types of side bets are offered in New Jersey live dealer blackjack games. These side bets are limited in comparison to the digital blackjack games but there’s still some side action to be had. A common side bet in blackjack is known as 21 + 3 Side bet or the blackjack poker side bet.

This is when you will combine your 2 cards with the dealer’s face up card to make a 3 card poker hand. 3 of a kind, Straights, flushes, straight flushes all pay out, with the highest pay out being if you can get your 2 face up cards and the dealer’s face up card to all be exactly the same including the suit.

New Jersey Online Casino Live Roulette

You can find live roulette at the Betfair NJ Online Casino and the Golden Nugget casino NJ. The game and rules of roulette will play more or less exactly the same as regular roulette with the addition of a live person with a real roulette wheel. They will spin the ball and place bets just like they would in person in a live casino.

There is very little delay from the time you place your bet to where you will visually see it being placed on the felt at the casino. For the Golden Nugget Casino NJ the roulette dealers and the wheel itself will be located inside the Golden Nugget Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The wheel will have a zero and double zero, however this time you may not place a bet on either zero or double zero and if the ball lands on either zero you will lose your bet. You can place almost any bet you normally would on these online New Jersey live roulette games.

Rules and Betting options of Roulette

There are 2 different categories of bets you may place on the roulette wheel. There are Inside bets, which will typically pay out the highest amount of money. Then there are also Outside bets, which are located more on the outside of the table felt and will happen more frequently but pay out less.

Inside Bets

There’s the straight up bet which is the one most people are familiar with. You place a bet on any number that isn’t zero or double zero and if the balls lands on that number you are paid 35 to 1. This is the highest pay out bet you can win and it is also the least likely to happen!

The Corner bet is where you will place a bet in the center of 4 numbers that all touch each other and should the ball land on one of those 4 numbers you will get paid 8 to 1 of your bet size.

The split bet is placing a bet on any 2 numbers touching each other and getting paid 17 to 1.

The Street bet is where you will bet on 3 numbers that are in a row. For example 1,2,3 or 34,35,36. This pays out 11 to 1.

The Line bet is like the Street bet except you will cover 2 rows of numbers in a row. For example, 1-6 or 31-36. This pays out 5 to 1.

Outside bets

Red or Black is one the most classic roulette outside bets and you are betting on whether the ball will land on a red or black colored tile. The payout is 1 to 1, however you will lose your bet should the ball land on zero or double zero.

High or Low is betting on whether the ball will land on the highest half of numbers or the lowest half of numbers, also paying out 1 to 1.

Even or Odd you can choose to bet on all the odd or all the even numbers. The payout is 1 to 1.

The last two are called Dozen and Column bets.

When betting a Dozen bet, you are betting on the first 12 numbers, or the middle 12 numbers or the last 12 numbers.

Column bets you are also betting on 12 numbers but from 12 numbers in a column not in chronological order like the Dozen bet. Both of these bets pay out at 2 to 1.

New Jersey Online Casino Live Dealer Baccarat

There are slightly different versions of baccarat but we will discuss the rules of baccarat that you can play at the NJ Live dealer baccarat tables. Baccarat is a very popular casino game and the house edge is very low, similar to a blackjack table.

Rules of Baccarat

The rules of baccarat are quite simple and you will not have as much decision making when comparing this game to black jack. In baccarat there are 2 positions, the player and the banker or dealer. You may bet on either. You are trying to get as close to 9 as possible. You and the banker will each get dealt 2 cards. If your cards add up to a number over 10, the last digit is used for your hand. For example if you get dealt a 6 and an 8 you would have 14, so your hand is a 4.

If you or the banker get a total of 8 or 9 on the first 2 cards this is known as a natural win and if it is higher than the other hand the natural hand will win right then and there. A lot of the time a natural win will not be dealt and a third card scenario will take place.

If the player gets dealt a 0-5 on his first 2 cards he will draw a third card. If they get dealt 6 or 7, they must stay and do not get a third card.

The Banker’s roll is a little more complicated. If a player drew a third card the banker’s actions will be determined on what the player’s third card is and what the banker’s current total is.

The banker will always stay if the banker’s first 2 cards added up to be a 7.

If the banker’s total is 2 or lower, then the banker will always draw another card.

Banker has 3, banker will draw unless the player drew an 8.

Banker has 4, banker will draw if player drew a card 2-7.

Banker has 5, banker will draw if player drew 4-7.

Banker has 6, banker will draw if player drew 6-7.

New Jersey Online Casino Live Dealer Baccarat Side bet

There is a very popular side bet that you are also able to play on the New Jersey live dealer baccarat tables. This is called the Dragon Bonus Bet.

The Dragon Bonus Bet is an additional bet you will place alongside your initial bet. You can win the Dragon Bonus Bet in many ways all with varying pay outs. You can place a Dragon Bonus Bet on the player’s hand or you can even place it on the banker’s hand, the choice is up to you.

If the hand you placed the Dragon Bonus Bet is a natural win, meaning an 8 or a 9 it pays 1 to 1. If the hand wins by a margin of 4 to 5 it will pay 2 to 1. If the hand wins of a margin of 6 to 7 the pay-out is 4 to 1. If the margin is by 8 the pay-out is 10 to 1. The biggest winning bonus of the Dragon Bet will be with a margin of victory of 9, which is the highest margin possible and the pay-out will be 30 to 1!

Conclusion

The Live dealer games being offered in online New Jersey Casinos can add some additional realism or excitement that you won’t get from non live dealer games. The games are fun and can be more social if you choose them to be. There’s something nice to be said from playing with real people and equipment instead of digital numbers and colors on a screen. Not everyone lives close by to a casino or travelling all the way to a casino might not be so convenient. Now you can play real live casino games from anywhere within the state of New Jersey.
