DraftKings Sportsbook Review

Once sports betting was legalized in the United States, it was no surprise that DraftKings was quick to enter the market. Already a powerhouse in the Daily Fantasy Sports world, DraftKings took advantage of the new laws allowing and regulating sports betting.

In fact, DraftKings was the first company in New Jersey to offer sports betting online when it launched on August 6, 2018. That launch was less than two months after the first legal sports bet was made in the state – at Monmouth Park.

DraftKings Sportsbook Info

Through their partnership with their land-based affiliate, Resorts AC, DraftKings began offering online sports betting on its website and through it’s Android and iOS apps. DraftKings has been one of the most popular online sportsbooks with players in the Garden State so far, consistently raking in the second-most revenue, behind only its DFS competitor, FanDuel.

Let’s take a look at why DraftKings Sportsbook is so popular among New Jersey players, and whether it’s a good site for you.

DraftKings Sportsbook Bonuses

DraftKings tries to attract new players by offering a lot of extra bonuses and free bets. As the NFL season has just started in earnest, the site is hoping to get even more players during what is often the busiest time of year for sportsbooks.

Currently, DraftKings is offering two bonuses for new players. The first is a deposit bonus that could be worth up to $500. Once a new user signs up for an account and makes a deposit, they will receive up to $500 in bonus funds from DraftKings. The site matches 20% of your bonus up to $500. So, in order to get the full $500 bonus, you will have to make an initial deposit of at least $1,000.

New users at DraftKings also will receive a risk-free bet up to $200.

What DraftKings Does Well

Not surprisingly, DraftKings is ahead of the pack when it comes to its site and mobile apps. The company was very mobile-focused with its DFS offerings, and it has followed suit with its online sportsbook as well.

The site has a very clean layout that’s easy on the eyes and easy to navigate. This goes for both the browser version on a desktop as well as its mobile apps.

A lot of players are attracted to DraftKings because they are familiar with the brand, and that’s a good thing. While some of the other companies that offer online sportsbooks in New Jersey have been in business for quite some time in other parts of the world, they are new to the New Jersey market. As such, players trust the DraftKings name and what it brings to the table.

As mentioned before, DraftKings is one of the best betting sites when it comes to offering bonuses and promotions for players. This was a staple of their offerings in DFS, and it’s the same for its sportsbook.

DraftKings offers a wide variety of betting markets and wagers for those markets. On any given day, there could be hundreds of games in multiple sports offered to players. This will continue to be especially true as the fall sports season gets further underway.

In addition, DraftKings does a great job of offering and highlighting all their In-Game betting options, which is a huge plus. In-Game betting is one of the most desired types of wagers for players, and DraftKings is no slouch when it comes to offering various wagers.

DraftKings makes it very simple to make a deposit and to make a withdrawal as well, and their full terms and conditions are clearly laid out on their site.

What DraftKings Doesn’t Do Well

While making a deposit and withdrawal are easy, DraftKings lags behind some of their competitors in the New Jersey market in terms of the options for both. DraftKings offers only six deposit options:

  • Visa/Mastercard
  • Online banking
  • PayPal
  • Skrill
  • Play+ Prepaid Card
  • Wire transfer

For most players, the deposit options at DraftKings won’t be a problem. The majority of players in New Jersey will most likely be able to make a deposit through one of these funding sources.

A potential issue, though, could be withdrawals. As of right now, DraftKings only offers withdrawals via check, PayPal, ACH and a pickup at the casino cage in Resorts AC. They cannot process withdrawals back to your credit or debit card, even if that was the method you used for the deposit.

Another downfall of DraftKings is they can charge a pretty high vig on some of the games they offer. While players love the convenience and a wide variety of wagers, they don’t like to have to pay high juice for the bets they make. This can make it very expensive for players and hard to come out on top.

Finally, DraftKings doesn’t offer direct phone support for players who need extra help. While many players in New Jersey would rather contact support via Live Chat or email, sometimes a good old-fashioned phone call is needed to help you walk through an issue.

DraftKings Sportsbook Review Conclusion

While it would be nice for DraftKings to have more withdrawal options, that’s really the only huge negative of the site. While the vig can be high on some games, it isn’t that way for every game and every line that they offer.

There are so many positives to the DraftKings Sportsbook that players have continued to flock to the site as their online sportsbook provider of choice in New Jersey. With the various promotions and bonuses they offer, plus the ease of use on desktops and mobile apps, it’s no surprise that DraftKings continues to be one of the best online sportsbook providers in the state.
