Best Underdog Parlay Bets This Week 01/18 – 01/23

underdog parlay winners cartoon

As always, this week offered sports bettors several underdog parlay opportunities that paid out handsome sums to those who were brave enough to bet them. Last week, we mentioned how the Los Angeles Rams and the New England Patriots were live dogs. Both of those dogs paid out although suspect refereeing played a part.

If you parlayed the Rams and Patriots for $10 you would have come out of the NFL Conference Championships with an extra $50 making them one of the best parlay bets. Let’s look at the most vicious dog attacks from the past week and see what lies ahead.

Dog Of The Week – Los Angeles Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers have been having a tough go of things in the past couple of weeks and they had lost five straight when they headed to San Antonio as a whopping +385 underdog last Sunday. The Spurs have been playing well of late and were trying to extend a two-game winning streak. The Clippers got off to a fast start and held off the Spurs to notch a 103-95 win.

It was three days later that the Clippers went into Miami as a more modest +194 underdog. After going into the half tied at 54, Los Angeles took over in the second half outscoring Miami 57-45 to win the game and send their backers home with a nice chunk of change. Rightly so, this became our number one pick from the best parlay bets of the week.

If you were lucky enough to parlay these games for $10, you have made a profit of $132.59.

Honorable Mention – Arizona Coyotes

We mentioned last week that the Arizona Coyotes would be live dogs when they faced the struggling Maple Leafs last Sunday. They had won four of their last six games while the Leafs had dropped three of their last four. Despite these teams moving in opposite directions, the Yotes were a tempting +230 dog and they ended up mauling the Maple Leafs for a 4-2 win.

Imagine if you parlayed the Coyotes with those Clippers wins? A $10 bet would have netted you a cool $460.

Last Weekend’s Savage Dog Attacks

The New York Rangers were winners in three of their previous four games when they visited their old rivals in Boston on Saturday as a +215 underdog.

A few savvy punters would have noticed that the Bruins were struggling which made the Rangers a great bet at that price. Sure enough, the Boston faithful and their backers went home with their tails between their legs while Rangers backers rejoiced.

Meanwhile, the Panthers had just broken a seven-game winless streak as they went into Nashville to face a vulnerable Predators squad that had lost three of their previous four games. Backed by some stellar goaltending from James Reimer, the Panthers had built a three-goal lead early in the second period and never looked back.

The +180 might not have made Florida the biggest dogs but they certainly paid handsomely.

Using our parlay calculator, you can see that those who took this pair of underdogs would have turned their $10 bets into $88.20.

Weekday Parlay Winners

The LA Lakers have struggled without LeBron James in their lineup. Heading into last Thursday’s meeting with the Oklahoma City Thunder, The Lakers had lost seven of their previous 11 games. However, things weren’t much brighter for the Thunder who had dropped four of their previous five games.

Still, the home team was an overwhelming favorite. It would have taken a lot of guts to take the Lakers at +405 but those who did were thrilled with the outcome.

Also on Thursday, the Los Angeles Kings paid a visit to Dallas who had just a single victory to show for their previous five games. The Kings hadn’t been playing much better and entered the game as a +160 underdog. Los Angeles goalie Jack Campbell was almost unbeatable and the Kings prevailed.

A $10 parlay on Thursday’s dogs would have added $121.30 to your bankroll.

Plenty Of Dogs Waiting To Pounce

The underdogs continued to bite on Friday night with the surging Islanders taking on the defending Stanley Cup Champions in Washington. New York’s Thomas Greiss turned aside 19 shots to earn a shutout as the Islanders recorded their fourth straight win and cashed in their backers’ +160 wagers.

It was the Minnesota Wild’s chance to do some barking in Sin City on Monday. Vegas was coming off of a win against the Penguins and had won 9 of their previous 11. The Wild had won two of their previous three but had been a lot less consistent which made them worthy of being a +160 underdog. Despite falling behind early, Vegas rallied and took over in the third period to earn the 4-2 win.

Using our helpful parlay calculator, you will discover that those who were brave enough to parlay the weekday underdogs would have scored a whopping $877.59.

A paltry $1 Parlay from all of the games that have been mentioned would have earned you a staggering $36,835.89. Who couldn’t use that kind of a cash injection?

Live Dogs For This Weekend

Unfortunately, the NHL is entering the All-Star break so the regular underdog action is on hold for the NHL. We take a look at the best parlay bets in the NBA and there are plenty of underdogs getting ready to bite.

The Atlanta Hawks have delivered a few nasty bites in recent weeks and they will be looking at the Trailblazers like a juicy steak when they visit Portland on Saturday.

The Orlando Magic have pulled a few rabbits out of their hat this year and, on Sunday, they will face an inconsistent Houston team that they beat in their last outing on January 13th.

Also on Sunday, the Phoenix Suns have a chance to make their backers a few bucks when they face the Lakers in Los Angeles.

The dogs will keep biting this week just as they do every week. Here’s hoping that you can grab onto their tails and ride them to the cashier’s window.
