Hard Rock chooses GIG as sportsbook provider

Gaming Information Group

Once Hard Rock’s sportsbook is approved, it’ll roll out offerings through GIG.

In the month of October, the Hard Rock Atlantic City submitted its petition to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement to open a sportsbook in its casino. Now, a week later, it was announced that the sportsbook will be operated by Gaming Information Group, better known as GiG.

GiG’s operations of Hard Rock’s sportsbook was to be expected, as the company was already operating Hard Rock’s online casino. This newly announced agreement will allow GIG to offer New Jersey sports betting through its mobile wagering options and also on site at the Hard Rock casino.

When is the GiG sportsbook coming to Hard Rock?

According to a company press release, GiG hopes to open the sportsbook and offering mobile wagering in New Jersey in the fourth quarter of this year. While Hard Rock already has online sportsbook partnerships with both bet365 and the Kindred Group, it is allowed up to three under New Jersey law.

GiG will be the third and final partner for the Hard Rock in Atlantic City, and it will be the one to run the retail operation inside the casino itself. Hard Rock hopes its partnership with GiG, and the eventual opening of its New Jersey sportsbook retail location, will be a big boost for its operations. It is in a highly competitive market in Atlantic City, and its next door neighbor on the boardwalk, Ocean Resort, has had a sportsbook in place since it opened back in June.

While the sportsbook at Hard Rock hasn’t been officially approved yet, since the petition was just submitted on October 9, it is expected to be done in the near future. The signing of the letter of intent for the agreement between Hard Rock and GiG should only further the two companies’ prospects in the New Jersey sports betting market.
